MULCHING

Mulching around a tree can be very beneficial not only for looks but also holding in moisture around a tree. Mulching thickness is recommended to be about 3-4 inches thick while making sure to create a donut of air around the tree base so it doesn't harm the tree.

Watering a tree after it has been transplanted is a key factor in the overall health of your tree. A good rule of thumb to use is going to be a gallon and a half of water per inch of trunk diameter. For example, a tree with a trunk diameter of 4 inches will need 6 gallons of water per day. Along with this, if the temperature exceeds 80 degrees, you can expect to double that amount, making it 12 gallons per day. With a temperature of 90+ degrees, you can expect to double that number again making it around 20+ gallons per day while spreading watering times out periodically.
